Associate Scientist/Scientist, Cell Therapy Process Development (PS06-0153)

Position Summary:

TScan Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotech seeking to revolutionize life-changing therapeutics for patients by identifying novel T cells and epitopes. We are looking for an Associate Scientist/ Scientist, Cellular Process Development to drive innovative efforts in building clinical manufacturing processes for the company’s novel TCR-engineered T cell therapy products. This role resides within the Process Development organization and will play a critical role in accomplishing TScan Therapeutics’ mission. Key activities will include the development of cellular manufacturing processes and analytical support as needed, technology evaluations, process scale-up, optimization and characterization, IND-enabling activities, and technology transfer to clinical manufacturing, amongst others.

The ideal candidate will (i) have a strong background in cellular bioprocessing with an  understanding of the cGMPs and guidance related to the manufacture of cell therapies; (ii) be skilled in evaluating and testing in-process analytics of engineered T cell products such as, live/dead assays, cell enumeration, and flow cytometry; (iii) be a steadfast problem solver who is energized by a fast-paced, lean and agile environment; and (iv) be a team player who can foster productive relationships with internal colleagues and with external partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize and scale up robust cell manufacturing processes to support Regulatory filings and GMP manufacturing.
  • Design and execute scale-down and full-scale process characterization studies in support of late-phase and commercialization of cellular manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in project and team meetings to provide updates and enable data-driven decisions.
  • Act as primary SME for internal and external process development and technology evaluation studies.
  • Author and review internal technical documents to support regulatory submissions and manufacturing technology transfers.
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Lab-based lab position; some weekend work may be required.
  • Master’s degree and typically 5-7+ years OR BS and 8+ years of related experience. Degree emphasis in immunology, cell biology, biological sciences, biomedical/chemical engineering or related field is preferred
  • Demonstrated hand-on working knowledge of a variety of state-of-the-art T cell processing instrumentation including processing of apheresis products, target cell isolation platforms, electroporation devices and have a strong background in cell expansion and cryopreservation
  • Skilled in characterization and cellular analytics of engineered T cell products including, cell viability, cell enumeration, and flow cytometry assays
  • Scientific creativity, critical thinking, ability to innovate, and analytical problem solving
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to activity pivots and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively both, as an independent contributor and within a team.
